CHILDREN’S DAY

On Sunday, June 1st we will be celebrating our Sunday School program during our 10am worship service.  This is a time to thank God for the work He does in our young people’s lives.  Following service there will be activities for the young people to do to have some fun.  Have the kids bring their bathing suits for the water slide(pray for no lightening this year).  Other indoor activities will be taking place as well.  More information will be published during next weeks service.  There will be a setup day at 10am on May 31st.  Let Pastor jody know if you can help out.

SPECIAL GUEST

Coming on September 11th, 2008 we will be welcoming the preacher/author/professor, Tony Campolo, as he comes to the UMC of Greenville and Norton Hill to speak to us.  Dr. Campolo confronts some of today’s hottest issues in a no nonsense quest for truth.

MONDAY SMALL GROUP

The Monday Evening small group has started a study on several books written by Tony Campolo, who will be our guest speaker in September.  The first book will be 20 Hot Potatoes Christians Are Afraid to Touch.  The Group meets at 7:30pm at the Todd’s home at 65 Highland Rd.  Everyone is invited!

AUTOMATIC WITHDRAWAL

Don’t forget you can see Bill Scrafford to sign up for automatic withdrawal for your weekly giving and yearly commitments.

WORK TEAMS

The trustees are looking for people to join 4-5 person work teams for various service projects around the church.  WE would like to form teams that can meet every 2 or 3 months to work on the many improvement and maintenance projects we have on our “to-do” list.  It is our hope that it is not only an opportunity for service, but for fellowship as well.

THIS WEEK IN WORSHIP

-This week at the morning services Rev. Carney shared with us a message calling us to fairness. Proverb is a book of wisdom.  Are we making wise choices… and fair choices?

-The evening service this week was titled a service of hope.  Amidst all the tragedies we see around us, amidst all the pain we see on the news, can we be the people of hope? The people whose faith reaches its hand out in the dark.

MISSIONS OPPORTUNITIES

The Mission Committee is creating some new opportunities for you to get involved in mission, even in your own community.  We are looking to create quarterly missions experiences for people of all ages.  Some ideas for the coming year are to have a service day at Camp Epworth to help with property maintenance, taking a group to a soup kitchen, having a service day for local shut-ins, or possibly a day with habitat for humanity.  If you have any ideas forward them to Sue Bowman at smkbow@aol.com.

Also, please don’t forget, you can support the global missions we are currently involved in.  We are still supporting a church in Cambodia.  If you can help to support this mission you can make an mark an offering for it on Sunday, or send it to the church: PO Box 599, Greenville, NY 12083, marked “missions”.  Thanks for your support!
